A long-form data analysis of the New York scratch-off ticket market this quarter: 65 active games, 50 tracked retailers, 540 top-prize claims logged, and an average market-wide payout rate of 64.2%.
The NY scratch-off market this quarter held 65 active games across seven price tiers ($1 through $30). Roughly 85.6% of all advertised top prizes have been claimed across the active inventory, leaving meaningful upside in the games that remain unwon. The five highest-Smart-Score tickets this quarter are: $3,000,000 MAX MULTIPLIER, 300X THE MONEY, 100Xtra, $3,000,000 BONUS STARS, ULTIMATE CASH.
Average payout rate across the entire active lineup sits at 64.2%, in line with the long-run NY Lottery target band of 60–75%. Premium tiers ($20 and $30) continue to lead in payout rate, while $1–$3 tickets remain dominated by hit-frequency rather than expected value — consistent with our prior quarterly findings.

Higher price tiers continue to outperform lower tiers on payout. This is structural: NY Lottery allocates a higher percentage of ticket sales back into the prize pool for premium tickets in order to support the larger jackpots those tiers advertise.
Approximately 85.6% of top prizes across all active games have already been claimed. This headline number is most useful when viewed at the per-game level — games where top prizes are 80%+ depleted typically show declining Smart Scores, while fresh launches with all top prizes still in the pool show the strongest momentum.
